United Nations (PBB)

PERSERIKATAN Bangsa-Bangsa disingkat sebagai PBB adalah organisasi internasional yang didirikan pada 24 Oktober 1945 untuk mendorong kerja sama internasional. Badan ini merupakan pengganti Liga Bangsa-Bangsa dan didirikan setelah Perang Dunia II untuk mencegah terjadi konflik serupa.

Di era seperti saat ini perusahaan tidak hanya melihat seseorang dari ijazah dan kampus mana mereka lulus. Namun, perusahaan juga melihat seseorang dari skill yang dimiliki. Kalau kemampuan yang dimiliki biasa-biasa saja apalagi rendah, maka besar kemungkinan akan tersingkir pada saat melamar kerja. 

Meskipun setiap posisi pekerjaan memerlukan skill atau keterampilan khusus, namun ada banyak keterampilan lain yang penting untuk dimiliki karena dapat ditransfer atau diterapkan di semua posisi.

Intern - Public Information [Temporary]

  • This internship is located in the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Jakarta, Indonesia, and is offered for an initial period of 3 months, with an opportunity for extension up to, but not exceeding, six months, pending on the needs of the department.
  • The internship is unpaid with offline/in-person working arrangements. The Intern is expected to work five days per week (35 hours) or on an agreeable time arrangement, under the supervision and support of a staff member from the office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the organisation of offline events – recurring and or ad-hoc (UNCG monthly meetings, outreach to schools or universities, etc.):
    • Help with preparing logistical and substantial items for the events: contribute to preparing relevant presentation
    • materials, drafting meeting highlights;
    • Documentation: provision of photos and or videos from the events;
  • Assist in the content planning and development for relevant inter-agency campaigns including drafting specific social media editorial plans, writing original copy and editing content for a range of communication materials;
  • Help to amplify UNIC/UN in Indonesia relevant outreach or campaigns in grassroots youth networks or other key targets demographic;
  • Assist in identifying potential new friends of the UN (Sobat UN, in Indonesian) for various outreach/campaigns amplification;
  • Document relevant UNIC’s offline communications/outreach activities – key events, numbers of participants etc. for internal archiving purposes;
  • Performing other related duties, as required.
Education
Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
  1. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  2. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
Applicants must also:
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Other Skills and Requirements
Candidates for our internship positions are not required to have professional experience, though it can be of benefit to the office if you have interests, skills and knowledge in the areas below:
  • Keen interest in international affairs, international organizations, management and change. Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences.
  • Strong planning, drafting and communication skills
  • Proficient in standard software applications
  • Attention to detail and a passion for researching big-picture issues
  • Experience in consulting, policy work or executive management support is an advantage
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English is required for the internship.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
